The name Echezeaux results from a misunderstanding of Les Chesaux and a bad cut L'echesaux. In 1353, the monks of Citeaux exchange 17 worked-vineyards they own on Chambolle against 14 worked-vineyards alongside vineyards it already has En Escheseau.
The vines, oriented to East, are planted on a fairly deep, with a combination of marl, silt and gravel.
This is a Grand Cru complex of great elegance that can be enjoyed with a hare to the royal or dishes composed of truffles.
