Running from Dijon to Corgoloin, the Côte de Nuits extends over around twenty kilometers. The area is a long narrow strip of vineyards, no wider than a kilometer, extending over 1,500 hectares.
The "Croix-Violette" plot is located in the north of Gevrey Chambertin appellation, in Brochon, nearby a monastery of the same name. The soil contains limestone-clay, dry and light, the subsoil is stony and drains well.
