This is the newest AOC in Burgundy (1987) and was very quickly promoted to the appellation communale classification. Located immediately south of Dijon, it sits on the doorstep, and is part of, the prestigious Côte de Nuits wine area. It has the distinction of producing wine of all three colours over an area of 130 hectares. This climat is a Domaine Michel Magnien Monopole and 2008 is the first vintage. This means that the entire vineyard parcel belongs to the Domaine making its production, a unique, rare wine.
The soils are dry, dark brown, composed of limestone, marl and clay, with pebbles assisting the drainage of the vines.
This Marsannay rouge will be perfect with a duck or its magrets.
