Chambolle takes its name from the bubbling appearance of the Grône stream. In 1878 the name of its best cru Musigny, was appended to the village name. This A.O.C. is for red wine only and covers a total area of 182 hectares. This plot is located to the east of the village, below "Les Noirots", next to "Les Beaux Bruns".
The vines are planted on limestone soils alleviated by gravel and pebbles. The "Fremières" vineyard plot draws plenty of vital minerals from its soil, a characteristic it shares with its neighbor, the premier cru vineyard, "Beaux Bruns".
A wine to taste with a oeufs in meurette, boeuf bourguignon or cheeses.
